The cool of fall invites us to go back inside, both physically and spiritually. Snuggled in a cozy blanket, I take a few moments every evening to go over the day’s highlights with a warm cup of calming tea.
I think of what I am most thankful for. Sometimes it's tiny things like a crunchy apple, and sometimes happy surprises like a friend visiting. I take a few moments to notice synchronicities that happened that day. Perhaps there’s a message for me to consider. I ask myself questions and sit silently.
It’s a special time to relax, to wind down from a long day, to come back to myself and recenter. I release all that doesn’t belong to me, that I absorbed during the day. The warm herbal tea supports me.
Some of my favorite teas for this important time at the end of my day are made with organic chamomile, lemon verbana, rose petals and lemon balm.
Here are some suggestions for an evening contemplation tea time of your own:
Come to this time with intention. This is a moment of devotion to the self. Choose this moment for yourself. Turn off all screens. Take your time making a cup of your favorite calming tea. Notice the dance of the herbal leaves when you pour hot water on them.
Some questions for reflection:
- Why am I so grateful?
- Why am I noticing all the riches that have come my way?
- Why am I devoting myself to a few moments of self reflection?
- Is there a message or a sign that needs attention?
- How can I be even more happy?
- What are some things that I did right today, that I am proud of?
